OUR MISSION: HELP KIDS
EXPLORE NEW HEALTHIER FOODS
Hi, I’m Kathryn and I’m so glad you’re here! I’m on a mission to help parents and educators introduce kids to new healthy foods and build a foundation for a lifetime of healthy eating. My daughter was once the pickiest eater I knew, and she’s the reason Little Food Passport exists. I didn’t come to this as an expert. I came to it as a tired parent that couldn’t do mealtime battles anymore. For a long time, dinner at our house was a negotiation I kept losing. I tried pretty much everything, and most nights still ended with a full plate and me wondering what I was doing wrong.
I built the solution together with my daughter when she was four years old. The idea came from an unlikely place: a long, uncomfortable flight with my daughter. What got her through it was the promise of a stamp in her passport at the other end. The anticipation and excitement outweighed every cranky mile, and somewhere around hour 9 I thought, what if dinner worked the same way? Together, my daughter and I turned trying new foods into a game, and she co-developed every page of what became the Little Food Passport.
Then I started reading the feeding research, and one finding stopped me cold: most kids need 10 to 15 tastes before a new food sticks, and pressure is what stops them from getting there. I had been doing the opposite. So we took the pressure out. Looking, smelling, and touching all count as exploring. There is no "I didn’t like it" sticker and no verdict to deliver. Kids earn progress for the try, not the swallow, and every meal becomes one more low-pressure chance to discover something new.
So here’s what I want every parent to know: if mealtimes have turned into battles, you haven’t done anything wrong, and neither has your child. I’ve been there, and I promise you’re not alone. New foods just need a better invitation. Our goal is simple: more food in the rotation, less pressure at the table, more FUN and a little less guilt on your plate.
Thank you for bringing Little Food Passport to your table. I can’t wait to hear about the first stamp your little explorer earns. If you have questions, ideas, or a mealtime win to share, reach out anytime. We’d love to hear from you.
Happy exploring,
Kathryn (and my very first explorer)
